Malay gooseberry (Phyllanthus acidus)

Usage : Fruits cooked as a sour flavouring or acar; root is medicinal but poisonous: boiled and steam inhaled for cough, weak infusion drunk for asthma.
As a liver tonic in India; the latex obtained from various parts of the tree is emetic and purgative. The leaves are used as a demulcent against gonorrhea.
